If someone has an amazing research idea, does anybody know an excellent place to sponsor, take care, and guarantee all the property rights?
Hi, Daniel has good points. I would just like to add that a research idea without any proof of principle, no matter how amazing it is, will have a hard time getting a patent.
The US patent office was so overwhelmed with "perpetual motion" engines that break the first law of thermodynamics that it clamped down on any such patent applications.
Depends though a lot what your idea is. You might want to start the patent paperwork. Places like ArXiv allow you to show when that version of your paper was complete. Given the Pons-Fleischmann experience, I would be careful allowing your organization set up a big press release before it has been accepted at a journal.

Hi Ayman I would like to say that Most of the time we Predict or Imagine ourselves Genius till we Present ourselves in front of Experts and Scholars of the Field. The Peer Review and the Experts decide that your FIND or IDEA can be a Patent or New Discovery or Find. The Great IDEA or DISCOVERY usually come with Born Talent Individuals and they are Gifted. Some small New IDEAS or Discoveries I have seen to be accepted as PATENT of Individuals. They usually never stolen by other Individuals as The Researcher is Smarter and do not give chance to Thieves. Summarizing I would suggest that Try to find Journals who are Best and has High Impact Factor IF and Highly Indexed they usually Provide Patent Papers and Articles. Regards

Anyway, if you publish the "big idea" before you file a patent, it will be in the public domain and not patentable.
You could file a provisional application in the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
