These blastoconidium-like ovoid buttons remind me of toxocyst-like structures produced by some species of the genus Pleurotus (e.g., P. ostreatus, P. pulmonarius or subgen. Coremiopleurotus). Anyhow, in addition to being morphologically similar, the already-documented size of these knobs corresponds quite well with your observations. Perhaps it would be pertinent to dig towards this avenue...
It also depends on the environment/substrate from which the observation/isolation has been performed.
