How about 3D printing a fixture shared mice skull?

If you have a CT or MRI scan of mice then use that to model a fixture. Send the model to 3D printer to print it.

for imaging part, that is doable, i dont know about 3D printer part. Which materal can we choose, and the cost?

3D printer would not be that expensive. One of the undergraduate student in our lab owns homemade cheap 3D printer. I am certain that he can make one for you and ship it out.

That sounds good. For the MRI part, how high resolution data set needs to be?

since it is only to secure the skull.. we do not need high resolution. May be if you send me a paper or document describing your task might help.

I would agree.  I have a 3D printer and would love to help you on this project.  I'm quite knowledgeable in many fields.  I would need basic specs to begin, maybe a cad file if you could.  Otherwise I can make one from some simple drawings and go from there.

I still have some questions on the camera.  Is is a standard camera?  Or a special camera for MRI purposes?

i dont have any clue about 3d printing, though i am eager to know more about it. As for the materials, how tough it is? or there is way to choose materials with different strength. To hold the mouse tight, the helmet needs to be strong enough.

First I would suggest ABS as it is strong enough to hold threads for small bolts.

Also rigid enough that it doesn't flex unless you make it in the design.  Think of your typical plumbing pipe plastic properties, only printable into a design that you make.
