I got an invitation to review my own manuscript more than a year after it was rejected by the same journal. My mails to the editorial team to inform them of this error was not replied on time, and so I reviewed it, and rejected it, giving reasons that the manuscript has been rejected by the journal without review and has since been published in another outlet. The editorial team finally respond, saying such should have been prevented by their software, I guess there was a glitch somewhere. How will I be sure when next I get a reject that it is not from a misbehaving software? Has anyone else ever been invited to review their own manuscript or is 2020 just a wonder-year?

A.I. Adekitan that is such a weird thing, I have never faced a situation like this before, but it is good that the journal replied to state that was a mistake.
As Artificial Intelligence (AI) develops, and reductive labor practices abound, journals may begin to rely increasingly upon software to compensate for the lack of time editors have to devote to editorial work, which --at least in the US-- is frequently uncompensated and underappreciated. We may see this rare instance become more frequent if such a trend develops.
Perhaps now is the time to ask editorial boards to be completely transparent about their manuscript review processes and practices. In the USA, there has been a recent move by editorial boards, and editors in general, to be more open about these practices in order to expose and extinguish biases in publishing. This sounds like a form of bias that should be added to the list of serious concerns about bias.
Even academics are susceptible to the power of ideology and hegemonic influences. Göran Therborn talks about this (Therborn, 1980). The only way I know to combat hegemony is by establishing transparency as an ethical practice.

Actually I am a reviewer on a Peer Review Journal and yes we are unpaid..... BUT we would never have the author review their own work.... That defeats the purpose of making sure the article in appropriate for the Journal and well written... It also provides the author with feedback which usually makes a difference in the final published piece.... So I would say YES... you are dreaming for Peer Review Journals....
This is absolutely true, the purpose of providing the author with useful feedback is completely defeated.
I haven't encountered this kind of situation of my own paper. I understand I am not supposed to review my own paper. I only do it once I get back the blind reviews from the reviewer/s wherein I am to do some editing based on their suggestions made. Yours is different. Perhaps others could give you an answer.
The open-access publication fees for most top journals are already high, requesting for an additional fee for the peer-review process should be a no-no. After all, reviewers are usually not paid, and all profit goes to the journal.
I am myself reviewer of two journals for the past two years but untill yet i never come across to review my own manuscript..........i hope it might be some error ......

Dr Gulzar Hussain the journal is not a predatory journal, it is a Q2 journal in Scopus and it is also indexed in ESCI
Very rare cases like this. Yours might be a exception case. Might be software issue from the journal side.

Dr Binaya Sapkota, the journal uses a blind review system. Also, the journal is not predatory, it is a Q2 journal in Scopus, and it is also indexed in ESCI
