It should be feasible to tell whether the DNA isolated from a collection of morphs comes from just one or more than one species by sequencing multiple genes, to exclude the possibility that a single selected gene happens to be invariant between closely related species.

The sequencing of highly variable DNA regions (e.g. ITS-sequences or other spacer regions) could be helpful.
