Pharmagenetic variablity of phenytoin is well established and US-FDA has requested to include warning with phenytoin drug inserts. However, I wanted to know what is the prevalence of HLA B1502? Is there any studies about its geographical variation?

Dear Pravin,
The correct intenational (WHO) nomenclature is: HLA-B*15:02 !
It is the same HLA-B allele, which interact with carbamazepine.
HLA-B*15:02 is over-presented in south-east Asia (e.g. India, Bangladesh, China, Taiwan, Japan ...) In this countries the prevalence is about 10 to 15%.
In Caucasians in Europe this allele is very rare (
