I know XRD is a good way to measure residual stress , but the grain size of cold rolled sample is too small for XRD or EBSD. What is the better way to measure the residual stress ( preferably three-dimensional stress distribution)?

If you access to a Neutron Source then you can use Neutron Diffraction. Much larger spot size with higher spatial resolution.

To explain the influence of residual stress on the elastic modulus (E) of NiTi alloys, macroscopic residual stress, micro residual stress and lattice distortion need to be measured. As a result, multiple approaches may be required. Thank you for your help!

Elastic modulus is less dependent on residual stress and grain size on macroscopic scale, but is this still true in nanomaterials?
