I need to design a heat exchanger which can recover heat from hot air from a wood burner to ambient air which would later be used as an input to a dryer system. As the hot and cold fluids are gases, I believe a plate fin type exchanger would be a good choice here. I am looking for reference manuals which elaborate the design steps. I am planning to do the calculation in Excel (VBA if required). Any comments and advises are welcome.

You can use compact heat exchangers (keys and London).There is a good example (example 2) in End of this book.
