As it's silica nanoparticles, I don't think you can disolve them with water but you can only put them in suspension by using sonication as you did. However, if your nps were dried or not well synthesized, they can form aggregates and you will not be able to put them in suspension. Depending of the size, if it is below 100nm, the suspension will appears like dissolved. If you still want to dissolve your nanoparticles, you may need to used HF (Be very careful by using it!)
Thank you for the note, I agree with your point and I shouldn't use the term soluble. Good suspension is my target but I am still struggling with some agglomeration. I could reach better suspension by increasing the pH to 10 and still working on optimizing the sonication. Many thanks all and any further ideas are more than welcomed.
