The rate of the reaction between calcium carbonate and diluted phosphoric acid (20%) is fast.I need to slow down the rate of reaction. Is there any additive or any method for this purpose?
Simply: 1) decrease the concentration of the acid, 2) put your reaction in lower temperature (10 degrees Celsius low) could decrease the reaction rate twice, 3) reduce the reaction pressure 4) if your calcium carbonate is solid crystals, use large size crystals because decrease the surface area of the solid will decrease the reaction rate where, the decrease in particle size causes an increase in the solid’s total surface area

I am trying to stabilize some calcareous(Aragonitic) sand samples with phosphoric acid to create a sand crust with low porosity (by low reaction rate). I will try your advises.
