One of the purposes of a thesis is to demonstrate your aptitude as an independent researcher. There's nothing wrong with asking for advice or feedback on details of the project, but a thesis should largely be your own work.
Thesis work requires a literature review as soon as your aim and objectives are sufficiently clear, the better to develop your research question. Apply this notion to your present aim of obtaining help from the research community... read some literature!
There are plenty of standard texts that address your query, from Bryman & Bell's 'Business Research Methods' pub. Oxford University Press, to my own 'Business Research Projects' pub. South-Western/Cengage Press. (Their discussion of methodology offers guidance well beyond the confines of purely 'Business' research.)
Actually, it occurs to me that Arbnor I. & Bjerke B. 'Methodology for Creating Business Knowledge' Sage Press 2009 might be particularly relevant to your planned study in AI in particular: they offer you an epistemology (the 'Systems Approach') as an alternative to the more common positivist 'Analytical Approach' and constructivist 'Actors Approach', as they call them. It's fairly deep stuff, best tackled after you're clear on the positivist-constructivist distinction, but well worth pursuing: I wish their work was more widely known.
