I'm planning to use sucrose for lyophilizing AuNPs, as they aggregate without it and don’t redisperse in water. Will sucrose affect their biological activity? Can I use them directly with sucrose, or is there a way to remove it later? Also, is there any alternative method to get AuNPs in powder form or concentrate them to 1 mg/mL?

To convert plant-based gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) into a stable powdered form, lyophilization (freeze-drying) is an effective technique. First, a suitable cryoprotectant like trehalose or mannitol should be added to the nanoparticle suspension to prevent aggregation during freezing. The mixture is then frozen at -80°C and subjected to lyophilization under vacuum, allowing sublimation of water and yielding a dry, free-flowing AuNP powder suitable for long-term storage and downstream applications.
