'Ecotourism' as a label is increasingly recognised across the world as a greenwashing term used by government and corporate tourism interests. A more honest term could be 'nature tourism'.

Ecotourism, hunting tourism, green tourism, children, sports, etc., as a term industry of tourism, rural tourism, etc., are all nonsense by people who do not know tourism. These are just forms of a tourist offer in which some of the above values are dominant. Does this mean that if tourists are swimming on a lake to have lake tourism, or if tourists visit a reservation inhabited by certain animal species, that they are wild or animal tourism, etc., etc.,

Thank you for your answers. First let me talk about Geoff concern, yes, there are green washing, people are taking advantage of these things like ecotourism, but a true ecotourism does have distinction and has its place within tourism. You were right to point out, ecotourism is a part of nature-based tourism, which is one of the fundamental dimension of ecotourism, then comes tourism that is environmentally and culturally educative and that practice sustainability. One must be careful to identify true eco-tourism from greenwashing as you cautioned.

I understand your anger, but that is not how it works, ecotourism if you research is a well defined domain, it is nature-based tourism generally small, environmentally and culturally educative and practicing sustainability, so if you can come across any tourism that does this you can term them eco-tourism. I totally agree with you idea that we should not randomly name tourism like lake tourism, forest tourism etc. There must be thought and philosophy behind it.
