Logically, I am of the opinion that the COVID-19 especially the lock-down and short down of industries and human activities have a positive impact on the environment. Reduced pollution on air, water and land due to reduction in human activities must have greatly help our environment.
Yes and no.
Though for the short term we have a slight reduction and we can see local benefits such as with smog shifting etc etc.
However, we still have a core issue with our emissions. Once lock-down lifts things revert to the before times and I don't think at the level of industry much has been learned, in fact I worry corners would be cut in the name of getting the profit margins back on track. A few months to a years break isn't a solution at all with the effect of carbon release something that will impact us on the scale of centuries.
Individually we may all be more conscious but our impact at a personal level is minor compared to the industrial pollution that is put out. I do however hope I am wrong and that public pressure will be there to push a more eco friendly system. This would mean nuclear power, proper land use meaning a push away from organic and into GMO. Using the technology and science we have to get us to a better place.

Absolutely yes, it is apparent and evident that the rural smog (Smoke+Fog) emissions are much lower as surveyed by Environment and Natural resources entities. People especially in the Philippines are much concern with planting ornamental, horticultural, agronomic crops and other agricultural and arboreal activities. The pandemic helps the mother earth breathe for a while and allow it to recover from too much damage.
