Are you sure its Heat Loss?????????? From thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) you get a plot of Temperature vs Mass Loss (%). If that is the case you have the simplest TGA curve. Your polymer has a one step degradation. The information you get from this curve are- the onset temperature of degradation (temperature at which the mass loss starts), percentage mass loss, the degradation completion temperature and the residual mass. If you have a broad mass loss step and the heating rate is high it is better also to take a look at the DTG (differential thermogravimetric analysis curve).
Thermo Gravimetry (TG) provides information about weight loss / weight gain when a sample is heated under controlled conditions. This weight change in a compound can take place in a single step or in multiple steps. Each step in the thermogram corresponds to a certain weight change. Each weight loss or weight gain is also associated with either an endotherm or an exotherm. If you have a DTG, then you can get two signals at a time from a single analysis; one corresponding to weight change and the other corresponding to the heat change. That means you can get TG result as well as DTA result. For more info, you may contact me at : [email protected].
