I have two solution: Solution A and Solution B. I will mix the two. Which wavelength should I use for UV-Vis Spectroscopy?
Solution A is pink while Solution B is green in color. If I will mix the two, which wavelength should I use to measure the absorbance of Solution B in this mixture?
The best way would be to measure the absorption spectra over the whole UV-Visible range for both the solutions and the mixture. However, you may use the complementary colour data to select a particular wavelength as well. For example, a yellowish green solution absorbs violet light which is in the range of 380 - 430 nm wavelengths. In order to "measure the absorbance of Solution B in this mixture" choose a wavelength where Solution A has zero/minimum absorbance.
