I am trying to raise the polyclonal antibodies against my peptides in mice or rabbit but its size is very small, only 5.7 K Da. But before going through it I want to ask if anyone has experience of raising the antibodies against such a small peptide? Does it will work?
You need to reticulate your peptide to a carrier before doing the immunization.
Yes, you can coupled your peptides on a carrier protein, one of the most popular is the KLH which is a good immunogen. However, by experience, you may raise good response by immunizing with the peptides, taking into account that yours are quite big. So, I would try direct immunization. PM
Many small peptides can raise immune respond especially in those highly sensitive animals. But people usually couple them to a carrier protein like KLH and BSA. This will enhance the immune respond thus let you have better chance to get the antibody you want.
Don't waste your time! Couple your peptide to BSA. N- or C-terminus are preferable sites for coupling.
