A clear NDA drawn up between a consulting engineer (to verify your notion?) also helps.
It won't stop theft, but it will give you legal recourse to sue them in case of contract breach.
I would be surprised if you can find something really new after 50 years of research and development in that field. And if, you first have to file a patent, proof that it works, convince an OEM etc.
