I find this project interesting. It may have something to do with my philosophy academic background. In my understanding, 'face' may be related to 'etiquette' in Philosophy but I haven't had any experience studying this. I think this is a fresh perspective and really would like to so some research into this. Could you please give me some advice such as references on this project?
Indeed it is an interesting question. I recently came across a Forbes article that gives an example in which having greater face seems to involve overriding the etiquette of not causing someone else to lose face. To me that suggests that "face" may sometimes be taken away from someone for the sake of some greater good, which in turn suggests that the face had by the person who causes another to lose face can function like a moral category (perhaps similar to the notion of moral character?).
