Hi, I read this in a patent: "the 21 amino acid signal peptide of CD8α (translated from 63 nucleotides at positions 26-88 of GenBank Accession No. NM_001768). The CD8α hinge and transmembrane domain consists of 69 amino acids translated from the 207 nucleotides at positions 815-1021 of GenBank Accession No. NM_001768." but the CDS of the NM_001768 is only 708nt (since 26 to 1021 is much longer), I wonder how could this be possible?

I think they are referencing 815-1021 of the 3000 nt sequence not just the coding region.

I know that NM_001768 is more than 3000 base.
My confusion is that since both 26-88(signal peptide region) and 815-1021(hinge and transmembrane region) should be part of the CDS, in this case the CDS is more than 996nt (1021-26), but acctually the CDS of CD8a is only 708nt.
Am I misunderstanding anything?
