I am working natural dyes based DSSC. It is known that the power conversion efficiency is purely depends on the pigments presented in the dye. How to find what are the pigments presented in the dye?
Please find the coloring materials in your locality, like flowers, roots, stems, fruits, try to find the more black color or dark brown colors having anchoring units. if you find then extract with suitable solvent like acetone that did not extract sugar molecules, otherwise these will give transient layer and you will not find good efficiency. after extraction go toward spray drier and then use it for your purpose.
First of all you have to select the known tinctorial plant in your region, then you do some biblioghraphic research in order to identify the dye pigment in each plant. It will be better to get specimen of this natural dye like alizarine for common mader or indigo for indigiofera tinctoria, then you do HPLC analyse for the specimen and the plant extract in order to compare the both spectrogramm and identify at the last the pigment or dye of your plant.
