I am using takara race kit and getting smear in nested race. can someone help?

I am using takara race kit. With universal primer and gene specific primer first, I first got either many non specific products or in some cases smear. So I then proceed with nested PCR, from which I got smear in all my reactions. Can someone help me with this?
