If all human beings are united by the Internet and social networks, wars can be considered much more difficult as there will be plenty of information among the citizens who support the rulers.
No - but it might change the nature of wars. The key optimistic word in your comment is “united” - there is no reason to believe that increased communication necessarily leads to unity. It is easy to imagine conflicts in which internet activity simply leads to wars becoming civil wars.
If only humans were able to agree on that. As much as social networks has done a lot of good (e.g. connecting people, enabling promotions, instant access to information) it has also done a lot of damages (conflicts, scandals, costly miscommunications). Also not all citizens will support the rulers - there are always few reformers or rebels out there who end up raising another group of rebels and or reformers to start a new movement which eventually can stir up war. And so if individuals who are part of the network do not share solid bonds (relationship), then some kind of conflict will erupt especially if the counter-current group (reformers or rebels) have established a solid network system.
I thought of groups of people in a country whose government decrees war and feel more united to the cause of the people on the other side than on the side of the conflict itself.
Yes, I agree with the thesis that the dissemination of information on the Internet may limit military activities. However, in some countries access to the Internet is limited to citizens, it is under government control. These are usually countries characterized by an undemocratic system of power. Besides, if the whole world becomes one global internet village, future wars may be mainly wars in cyberspace. Already now every day, permanently thousands of hackers working on orders from governments of different countries make hack attacks on government institutions of other countries.
People do have access to fake news through the Internet which then leads to either supporting rulers or go against the rulers. Until there is no lie detector machine in the Internet to differentiate truth and falsehood people can be misled.
Most wars begin when the people involved in the conflict are ignorant of their devastating consequences. As such, social networks provide some kind of platform whereby individuals can enhance their general knowledge simply because such networks have a historical value helping them to boost their wisdom and intellectual capacity. Although cyber security is an issue of worldwide interest, the internet is still the only information free way which helps people not to be deceived by their leaders' charismatic reasonings . Wars are wars and they are the weopen of those who abhor the benefits of dialogue for settling down political differences.
It is the economy and the economic benefits and of a minority, the rich who control the actions of the leaders. This minority of rich and millionaires, the love of fortunes for them overrides human values.
Great answers. I also see that the channels of communications are vital to the effort of peace. Thus, I see the strong role of social networks, which surpass national boundaries. Tourism is another crucial factor in bringing people together.
