Some laboratories or research groups post their unpublished results or supplementary materials on their websites. Usually we can cite using the name of the organizations where they belong and also the specific websites where the results have been posted.

This is possible and true. I have seen some unethical researcher who have used this to increase their citation in Google Scholar only. That is a reason most people prefer to refer to Scopus Index that is based on academic publisher and more reliable to a great extent.
