In my opinion it is an excellent idea to include stress testing as a part of preventive health check up. This will identify certain individuals who may later develop stress disorders. Individuals with hyper or type A personalities may be advised to take it easy and find appropriate strategies to reduce their stress and strain perhaps by exercise or by just having a heart-to-heart talk with them. Individuals with high stress jobs may be advised to find ways to decrease their stress by exercise or by participation in support groups to reduce stress.
At present there is not adequate data to include stress test in preventive health checkup. In low risk subjects, addition of stress test gives little information because high false positive rate.
