If heterogeneous nucleation occurs at the grain boundary of the two grains of a substrate, which have different crystal orientations in thin film deposition, and grows to island particle, how will the preferred crystal orientation of the growing particle be decided?

Can it grow in the direction of the average crystal orientation of two grains of substrate?
