I think the first priority should be that how to save the rice crop plants from drought. Because the weeds can reduce the yield or quality but drought may destroy the whole crop. Further if something (natural herbicide) is to be added in the field, again water is required. Besides chemical sprays, other methods include biological and physical. Manual removal of the weeds can be practiced OR some bio-control (natural herbicide).
DSR, you mean (Direct Seeded Rice). I think in such a case, it is difficult to manage weeds. However field should be prepared well before sowing to minimize the emergence of weeds. Later on manual removal of weeds OR use of herbicides can be practiced.
For Direct seeded rice, satisfactory weed control is possible. Spray pendimethalin just after sowing in proper moisture in case of wet sowing DSR and after 3-4 days after sowing in case of dry sowing DSR. Another foliar spray of Bispyribac sodium 10 % SC PI industry herbicide broad spectrum systemic herbicide at 20-25 days after sowing or at 2-5 leaf stage of weeds gave excellent control of weeds. Use flat fan nozzle for better results.
