There are two types of toppings that can be placed over existing concrete slabs: bonded and unbonded. Bonded toppings are relatively thin layers of material that are bonded to, and rely on, the existing slab for their integrity, e.g. resistance to drying shrinkage and cracking. Unbonded toppings are separated from the existing slab, incorporate reinforcement and act as individual thin slabs.

I advise you to check deflection of existing slab before any layer to be added. this check can be do it through which called( load test) or ( bearing test). with best regards

Actually the concern issue is not about the slab state,.. all deflection requirements have been achieved... its all about the topping and test it...
First direct method: Prepare topping slab with lag/shift ( topping slab to be extended by 200 mm out of existing slab from one side and shorter than slab from other side). Then test it by shear test ( apply load on the side of topping slab and calculate the slippage). All precautions should be taken to support two slab and no inclination of load direction and fixing two slab together during the test to guarantee that only direct shear is representing bond between slab and topping and shear resistance of shear studs( if any).
Second method: on flexural slab with long span to let slippage happen between topping and slab. Noting that slab should have enough shear resistance and ductility to measure relative slippage.
