Often, we come across this term 'General Knowledge' (GK) at various platforms. People generally use this term without any care and put everything under the preview of GK. As I think, ‘GK is any fact that has some relevance to the society at present of at any time in history’.

Here relevance can be in terms of any important fact, or a fact or incident having some importance to a group of people, or some inspiration or matter of remembrance etc. here the facts of nature and civilizations can also be considered as relevant facts. But, the GK should not include any fact that has no relevance to the society if forgotten by all. For example, some days ago, in a quiz, a question was asked by quiz master, which of given players was not graduated in engineering, while the game they play had nothing to do with engineering; hence these types of things should not be considered as GK. If GK should be taken as covering all facts, then we cannot guide the generation in discriminating the relevant and irrelevant facts.

What do you think, how GK should be defined.
