TV does affect the intelligence of children in Ghana. Many cases of bad behavioral traits such as disrespect and insult of the elderly among children in the Ashanti Region of Ghana was noted recently in a study that it was due to their perpetual watching of a particular tv series that fanned such foul behavior. I was shocked to hear some 6-8 year ranged children saying that kissing the opposite sex in a romantic fashion as they watched in many soap operas aired on TV stations was okay, feeling no sense of dread.
On the other hand, some TV programs like news review improve the English speaking and writing abilities of children.
Parents need to monitor the programs that their wards watch on TV. THEY MUST BE CIRCUMSPECT and SELECTIVE. They should advise and allow their wards to watch those that can harness the moral and academic behaviors of the children. Best regards
In my opinion, TV does not affect positive the intelligence of children. Children who are more read and do sports or any other activity may be more intelligent than those who spend a lot of time in front of the TV.
It affects children through the follow-up of Purpose and scientific programs, especially the simple ones that mimic the child's mind in a scientific and fun way. Sometimes, some TV programs are counterproductive to children, especially some bad cartoons that teach children some ugly behaviors
I recommend posts of Dr.Edyta Gheribi and Dr.Anirbid Sircar, where TV's does not affect children intelligence, but the most effective (tool) is the smart mobiles and internet navigation because of the presence of thousands of respected websites that directly stimulate children mental activities.

According to the psychiatrist and psychoanalyst Serge Tisseron who is the author of the book "The dangers of TV for babies" that exposure to television of children under three years of age can alter and even slow down their development. At this age television is not interactive with respect to them. The interaction is much more present and important with toys and the presence of humans.
One thing you should know , if you don't let them watch TV they will watch Youtube ...They are pretty smart these days , they know how to work around technology ...
It is healthy for their imagination and perception of the world .
I share your sentiments. Parents should thus intensify the moral education of their children on the negative impacts of particular 'heavy' or morally disparaging TV programs they must avoid with the parents setting good examples in this regard. Thanks
I will try to simplify my explanation of the essential shortcomings of liberal democracy in one example. We must reproduce the full offspring, giving our children a good upbringing. But even with our good upbringing of children, among other things, they are brought up, for example, by television, which is one of the results of technological progress and a signature of liberal democracy. As you know, there are commercial pauses on television. An adult has "immunity" to advertising, but the small immediate child does not possess this "immunity" and perceives advertising literally as a guide to action. As a result, of the children who watch TV often, idiots are more likely to grow up. Since television is a mass medium, we essentially produce a generation of idiots.
Best,
Vladimir

TV has a great, generally negative, influence on children. Negative, in my opinion, is mainly related to the fact that any form of interaction is impossible. Therefore, children acritically absorb any information coming from TV. This uncontrollable information is perceived by children as absolute and incontrovertible truth. Therefore, children should watch TV always in the company of a parent or teacher or an adult and educated person. In summary, TV does not contribute to intellectual growth but fills the minds of children with information and notions that generally do not stimulate their intelligence, in the sense that they do not encourage children to think with their heads.
Depending on my personal experience, I find that TV has a great influence on my two kids. My son (5 years) started to use standard language and talk with a high language, beside memorizing certain English words , numbers and letters from certain channels. And my daughter (3 years) was late at speaking, but when she started to watch TV with her brother, her language started to be better.
Child are learning box, they learn from anything, their memory is only accept simple and true logic. and all things effect on their intelligence, it may be from TV.
You ask the following: How TV affects the intelligence of children?
You ask how TV affects the intelligence, not if TV affects children's intelligence. As I see it, I think that you are more interested in the second question, not in the first one. There is accumulated evidence that shows that children are eager to get information, and that in many countries all over the world children spend many hours watching TV. As a powerful means of information, we might say that all of us are affected by TV in cognitive, social, moral, and emotional development, just to cite four types of development. This is particularly true as far as children are concerned because children are at a level or stage of development that leads them, in Piagetian terms, to easily assimilate information, mainly that provided by TV programs. So, it seems more than natural to think that TV affects the intelligence of children as well as their social, moral, emotional development and the like. This influence, however, depends, for exemple, on the type of information children receive. In my and, I guess, other countries, there are TV programs designed to foster children's cognitive development as well as other types of development. On some occasions, however, mainly when children are alone for a while in their homes, they may watch unsuitable programs for them. When this is the case, TV may have a detrimental effect on children's thinking, feeling and acting. This means that to watch TV on the part of children, let alone adolescenta nd adults, is a double.sword. Good programs or programs, say, oriented to the true, the good, and the beautiful, have, in principle, positive or desired and desirable consequences on individuals' psychological development. Bad programs have, in principle, detrimental consequences for the individual's psychological development and education. This is more so because TV programs are generally unidirectional in that when watching TV, lookers cannot interact with those who are delivering information of several type. In this sense, smart mobiles and NET navigation may be preferable to TV (see Emads' answer). This is a short answer to your question, mainly because any answer to your question can be provided from different viewpoints. Even so,I hope this helps.
Overall, studies show that TV binging is hazardous for the developing brain. Many studies have been done in this field. Below is a part of the article ” Your child’s brain on technology: television”
for the researcher” Hank Pellissier”
explaining this point.
A 2013 New Zealand study found that young adults who had watched more TV as children and adolescents were more likely to be convicted of a crime, receive a diagnosis of antisocial personality disorder, or exhibit aggressive behavior than those who watched less television. A 2002 Turkish study determined that “television viewing time had a negative correlation with social and school achievement” and was linked to social problems and aggressive and delinquent behavior. Excessive daily television use also increased the odds of depressive symptoms in young adults, according to a 2009 study, particularly in young men.
For this question of electronic media & scrutiny for children to me it is the responsibility of the parent to keep not only on watch dog but also the parents should carefully observe in which mode their children are utilizing the program of electronic media & also of TV programming performance.
