Any study begins with a research question that a research project aims to answer. However, researchers face a degree of difficulty in making a relevant research question.
So, what is the importance of research question ? and how can a researcher write a good and innovative research question?
In general, the research question will include all necessary knowledge, relevancy and instructional key words, concerned with the what, why, and how of the study in about 10-15 words
Where the study is more scientific and interventional in nature, it could include be stated in if-then form, including independent and dependent variables.

Research question serves as a guiding framework for research and specifically reveal the boundaries of the study, setting its limits, and ensuring cohesion.
A research question should be:
- Focused on a single problem or issue.
- Feasible to answer within the timeframe and practical constraints.
- Specific enough to answer thoroughly.
- Complex enough to develop the answer over the space of a paper or thesis.
- Relevant to your field of study and/or society more broadly.
A good research question must have the following characteristics:
- Should include only one problem in the research question
- Should be able to find the answer using primary data and secondary data sources
- Should be possible to resolve within the given time and other constraints
- Detailed and in-depth results should be achievable
- Should be relevant and realistic.
- It should relate to your chosen area of research
I am working on this right now to get a reasonable and easy-to-understand research question (Ph. D). Most of the answers here were very helpful.
