our team has prepared a pretested, structured, and self-administered questionnaire and we would like to validate it so as to further apply it in multiple populations. Which are the best steps to validate a questionnaire according to your experience?
Any recommendations regarding the steps that such a validation need would be more than welcomed.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'pre-test. Do you mean that you have 'run it by' a small convenience sample of respondents and found it to 'seem ok'? In which case---and I'm taking validation to mean that your questionnaire needs to be understood by respondents and return the data which you intend it to----you now need to more formally pilot it on a larger sample and modify it accordingly (you may have to do this more than once).

In the construction of a self-report instrument for behavioral science, you have to apply distinct forms of validation procedures.
First, you have to solve and determine the content validity, that is, if theoretically the indicators ore items are well and broadly associated (in a theoretical manner) with your inobservable target construct. One study that can be applicated here is contact with a group of experts to see if their accordance in the adequately (in a broad use of the term) of your redacted items. This is a very important determinant stage of the scale constructions.
Second, you have to obtain robust evidence about the construct validity, applying for this factor analysis procedure. In this instance, you have to obtain reliability evidence too.
Third, and in many cases grouped into the construct validity procedure, you have to get evidence about the predictive, concordance, discriminant, and criteria validity of your scores.
