How to use Hach LCK381 to measure TOC?

The insturction divide into TC and TIC. I thougt the final result will be TC-TIC=TOC. But both of them has their own TOC value. And my result of TC always be negetive. Thus I don't understand how to use this.

Are you able to zero each test separately?

It seems that the differences are small, BUT so are the absolute numbers.
