I am modeling a RC column reinforced with GFRP bars and spiral stirrups using ANSYS 17,, how can I load the column until failure (based on my material properties)?? I have seen people using APDL codes,, is there another method??

You can use Workbench as it's more user friendly and also very easy. In some cases you need to insert command snippets to force the use of a certain element or to get automated result files.

what are the loading types you want to apply? the workbench is more friendly and easy for dynamic load. however, in static load the strains of steel is not displayed easily and you have to write APDL code
