Please guidance and clarification relating to wear analysis of the Al-Si alloy... if the volume loss, V (mm3) is increasing... the wear rate, Q (mm3/m) will decrease and the wear resistance (1/K) also will increase too?
Question... if the alloy has a lower value of V that means the alloy has better mechanical properties? and... if the alloy shows the highest wear resistance, that means the alloy has lower mechanical properties?

Dear Zainon, I think the better for your case now is to analyze the Archard's equation. To infer about mechanical properties based on the wear results is not suitable, because the system changes a lot the surface properties, hence the bulk properties should be previously measured. Regards.

That means the alloy has better wear resistance, all other mechanical properties may be either better or worse depending on material.
Again, there is no clear relation between wear resistance and other mechanical properties of materials.

I'm agree with previos comments partially, "if the alloy shows the highest wear resistance", that means that the alloy has not lower mechanical properties, because the higher are the mechanical properties, the higher is the wear resistance.There are three basic parameters of mechanical properties responsible for their wear resistance: the hardness, the ultimate strength and parameter of plasticity - relative reduction of area. You must strive to achieve the maximal value of each of these thee parameters, then the wear resistance will the highest.
