Sensory nerve endings of Touch,pressure,pain,temperature, proprioception and vibration are present but testing methods are not available.
Dear Satish, we have proposed a battery of sensory testing, which is widely recognized now as a gold standard (Rolke et al PAIN 2006, Magerl et al 2010) in somatosensory testing. We have modified it later on to allow testing extraorally and intraorally, including gigiva etc. There is several papers on standard values, reliability and application in atypical odontalgia. You may look up the names involved in this project to find the specific papers (Lene Baad-Hansen, Peter Svensson from Aarhus University; Thomas List, Maria Pigg from Malmoe, and Mark Drangsholt, University of Washington).
