I manually uprooted two pairs of setae from one single segment of an earthworm - at the cost of bit of tissue being lost from the site of setae, albeit no blood shed - to later observe that wound was sealed by tissue regeneration, without leaving any trace of injury, but new setae couldn't be regenerated(even after 12 days). Did earthworm fail to sense this fact? How can I test(under a microscope) if the lost/removed tissue contains the stem cells?
