The Internet represents a quantum leap in the way we can get academic data and information. For sure, much of the information you find in the web is not reliable. At the moment, I think the the best strategy we should follow is to seek data from sources we previously know as trustworthy.
How to navigate in useful, productive and efficient online? It is the crux of the matter.

Metafóricamente hablando, cuando se navega en el mar sin conocer cuales son las condiciones ambientales que podrían entorpecer dicha navegación, y además sin tener brújula y no tener un plan previo de por donde conducir su nave, que tipo de corrientes lo pueden hacer avanzar y que otras detener o retrasar el viaje. Asimismo, si viaja sin el equipo adecuado, al menos brújula, alimento, ropa, herramientas de supervivencia, etc...
El resultado pudiera ser catastrófico, perderse y llegar a una isla desierta a sobrevivir esperando a la suerte de ser salvado, o morir en el intento. En el mejor de los casos, llegará a su destino mucho después de lo planeado y una vez agotada casi toda su reserva de supervivencia, amén de enfermo y con bajas (muertes) de algunas personas que por invitación lo acompañaron a dicho viaje aventurero y de gran riesgo.
Asimismo, regresando a la Navegación Útil por Internet, es necesario tener por lo menos conocimientos elementales de cómputo y capacidad para operar una computadora personal, conocer el sistema operativo y los mejores navegadores para una navegación rápida y amigable por Internet.

En otros términos, si son verdaderas evidencias científicas en la materia que le ocupa, y si están actualizadas.
Aún más, una vez encontrada la mejor ruta de navegación en Internet, las páginas y bases de datos relevantes para su investigación documental, es necesario aprender a obtener toda la información y conocimientos contenidos en dichos documentos digitales, manejar los diferentes formatos para la impresión o para el archivo de los datos y leerlos a profundidad,
La lectura de información relevante encontrada y disponible para su análisis y evaluación, requiere no sólo de que el navegante lector sea experto de su disciplina, sino que sepa leer textos científicos y toda la terminología involucrada en ellos y el manejo matemático de datos no solo los simples, sino los agrupados en estadísticos adecuados al tema que investiga, analiza y evalúa. Todo ello se llama Lectura Crítica de la Evidencia Científica.
Yo soy médico clínico e investigador en medicina y educación médica, por lo que a manera de ejemplo de como encontrar las fuentes originales de información, como leerlas en forma crítica y con postura de investigador y experto de mi campo, para aprovecharla en beneficio de la sociedad, o de usuarios de mis servicios profesionales (pacientes, enfermos), anexo 6 publicaciones que ejemplifican dicho proceso en la Medicina Clínica y en la Investigación Científica, tanto en la formación de alumnos, como en la capacitación de profesores e investigadores en mi campo de experiencia.

If you are looking for scientific information then you need to try first in Google Scholar Search. You need to have permutation and combination of keywords related to your research. If you have access to Scopus, Sciencedirect, Web of Science, Springer, Taylor & francis, IEEE, RSC, ACS etc..........then the search becomes very easy. You get authentic information.
