Hi, can anyone tell me how to submit fungal sequence on NCBI? I isolated fungi from root of the host plant and made them sequence by 18s rDNA sequencing. I want to get accession number of fungus sequences. In the accession number form on NCBI, there are few terms like 'isolate' and 'strain'. i want to know what they want to ask? in example: for isolate, they want abc1 and DGGE gel band def2. for strain, they want ABC1, CBS 123 with suggestion like, Do not use strain codes from top BLAST matches. Do not use the species or organism name as the strain name.
please tell me how to know strain and isolate of fungus? Thank you

strain name or isolate code is the code which given by the person who did isolation (usually its the code of the isolate for example abbreviation of sample name, or sample location, etc). so the code is depend on you.
Do not use same code from top BLAST match means do not use same code as in the NCBI. the code must be different
