Hi everybody, i just want to know the methods that we can use for a study about the corrosion effect between the steel and the cement ? is anyone familiar with this work ?
We use the following tests to get an idea about the risk of steel corrosion: Ficktest, waterabsorption by capillarity, chloride penetration (submersion, capillarity) and Half cell potential tests.
Thanks Joseph, those are the methods to study the risk, what about looking for something to prevent the corrosion, for exemple in the acidic medium, we use to investigate the inhibition effect by organic compounds, for the steel in cement how we can reduce the corrosion rate of the metal.
Maybe you can put the concrete in an environment that will lead to forced corrosion. Then put the concrete with the prevention method in the same environment. After a while, remove the concrete from the iron and measure the rate of corrosion. Weight loss measurements or Electrochemical tests could be used for this.
