Growth hormone is crucial for animal growth and development; however quantifying the concentration of this hormone is tricky (usually requires repeated blood samplings) due to its pulsatile nature of secretion from pituitary gland. In other words, a blood sample taken at a single time point will not be informative for quantifying its concentration, which limits the assessment of Growth Hormone in the commercial livestock industry. Is there any new technology or protocol can be used to assess the growth hormone concentration in farm animals without repeated blood sampling? Reference is preferred. Thank you.
