We don't have a desiccator or glow box in our lab. Is it OK to keep PAH powder in a parafilm sealed amber bottle inside a zip bag with a drying agent, in a refrigirator of 4 C? I'm using NaOH as a drying agent. Which drying agent do you also suggest?

I my point of view your measures are OK for storage of such a material. In the case of drying agent you can use silica gel or calsium chloride (NaOH is too dangerous, I think). As alternative, you can store your material at freezing temperatures, this will provide the lowest absolute moisture content in the surrounding air. Also, it is important to equilibrate your bolttle after cold or frozen storage at a room temperature before opening: because water vapor will easily (in some cases immediately) condence on the cold surface of your material, which will make all your efforts useless.

Thanks Ignat! I guess I ll pass the subzero solution, I dont want to wait for long before opening the bottle. After your suggestion I changed my agent to CaCl2. Actually there was CaCl2.2H2O was avaible in the lab so I heated it @150C for several hours in the vacuum owen just to get anhydrous form. Hope it works. .)
