Hello, do you have any advice on how to store a purified viral protein for a long time? I have already noticed that after twenty days at 4 degrees it starts to form aggregates and precipitate.

I have thought about aliquoting it and putting it at -80 degrees, however I don't know if I should add something to avoid damaging the protein during freezing and thawing.

I use this protein for X-ray crystallography, plus I'm studying the interaction with a ligand, so I don't want to add glycerol as it could get in the binding site.

Do you have any advice?
