You should have told with which software you are working. If the element has zero length, it does not consider the geometry given by the nodal coordinates. Still, it utilizes the user-defined orientation vectors to determine the directions of the springs.

I suppose you worked on Ansys.

Zero length problem happened when you wrongly click on the same node twice (in link element).

Go to select entities > elements > by attributes > check the element number > delete it.
