I am currently running a high-impact model of a sphere on a flat substrate, as it in the cold spray process. This a single particle impact simulation using Abaqus, but I have tried to resolve the error message "An excessive temperature rate occurs in solving the heat transfer equations. This usually indicates that some elements are badly distorted or an error exists with the model definition. You can check the temperature values and see if the distorted elements exist."
Can anyone suggest methods to use, this is in the Lagrangian frame of reference.
Please check the status file, you will know what exactly the error is. If the error occurred due to distortion, either you need to develop a UMAT or refine your mesh. Do some mesh sensitivity analysis. It is an iterative process.
Hello Cletus John Akisin, with the Lagrangian framework, it is not possible to avoid high distortion of the mesh using Abaqus software. If there is a high distortion of mesh; the artificial increase of energy does occur; hence temperature increases. You need to use the ALE adaptive mesh domain for every frequency of 1 (usually used for impact problems) remeshing sweep for example 5/10 as suitable for your model, try additional control if it doesn't work.
