I extracted natural dye from mahogany bark and i want to do a isotherm analysis in fabric dyeing. Is there a method to solidify the bio compound in the dye.
Natural dyes are generally not very stable, so heating or extreme pH-values are out of the question. I have had success with freeze-drying samples or natural dyes. Once you cleaned up the extract (removed solids and maybe further purified it), quickly freeze it in liquid nitrogen and next freeze-dry it gently, overnight.
In this article they recommend freeze drying as well: https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Ramamoorthy_Siva/publication/228365046_Status_of_natural_dyes_and_dye-yielding_plants_in_India/links/0c960528f20dd64f91000000.pdf
I hope this helps, kind regards, Leo
