I am trying to study an islanded microgrid with one grid-forming converter (GFMC) and several grid-feeding converters GFC supplying power to the island loads.
My query is how to calculate the size of the GFMC, I mean the minimum converter rated power that is required to keep the grid voltage/frequency stable. For instance, should this rated power be bigger/equal/a fraction of the installed power in the GFC/in the loads?
I would appreciate that you could provide some advice and if possible, recommend some papers that could serve as guidance.

I would like to specify my question further. In this case of a converter connected to an isolated grid, I believe that the rated power of the converter must be at least slightly higher than the power demanded by the loads, plus a certain reserve for future extensions and unforeseen events. Otherwise, this grid-forming converter will not be able to maintain the desired power and frequency. But on the other hand, unnecessary oversizing of the grid forming converter must be avoided. And finally it will be necessary to take into account if there are any grid-following converters connected, which can provide part of the energy demanded by the loads, since this would also allow us to reduce the size of the grid-forming converter.
In my perception, operation of the converter against an islanded grid is much more challenging than the case of a grid-following converter connected to an utility grid. In this latter case, the utility grid in my perception can act as a buffer, accepting all the energy that can supplied by the converter while at the same time ensuring all the loads are receiving the required power. Hence the size of a single converter is not a major issue. This is not the case for islanded operation e.g in rural areas where the number of both generators and loads are limited and it is necessary to balance them.
