First ... Publish a LINK to an article, not the article. Even when an article is open source, this only gives everyone permission to download the document for free, it does not give anyone permission to distribute the document further.
Protocols for APTES and APTMS should be comparable. The outcome may depend more on the fact that you use oleic acid to coat the nano-particles. I suspect that, should you decide to use water as a solvent (I do not recommend), you would do well also to control the pH to balance the pKA of the oleic acid and thereby afford more effective hydrolysis.

I was raised to respect a default rule: Always point to the source regardless of what is permitted at the source. I fear by long experience that, because articles are found directly here, naive readers believe that such reposting is always permissible. Of course, it is not. Hence, I caution to err on the side of greatest respect.
Otherwise, why waste bandwidth and/or storage space on ResearchGate by reposting what exists in full elsewhere.
