2D Airfoil is used for CFD simulation with its domain having a C shape in which the curve edge is the velocity inlet. If I set the boundary condition for the inlet to magnitude and direction, using the cos and sine function to get the value of x-component and y-component, is the angle of attack I am setting for the curve edge would be the angle of attack I am setting. I am just wondering does the curve edge would affects the angle of attack I am trying to set.
the angle of attack for an airfoil may represnted by three way:
1- by rotate the airfoil in an angle and then generate the C-type mesh. the velocity component only in x direction.
2- assume airfoil with zero angle of attack, then generate c-type mesh. finally, rotate the airfoil and its mesh by angle that you wanted.the velocity component only in x direction.
3-assume airfoil with zero angle of attack, then generate c-type mesh. the make the velocity in two compnent in x and y.
Yes C-Shape will affect the angle of attack consideration in certain way.
1. The end of C-shape ends before the trailing edge of airfoil
2. The height of C- shape is less than 5 times the airfoil chord.
So, consider C-shape with adequate height and ensure it encloses the airfoil trailing edge.
If possible give the horizontal lines after the C-shape also as inlet.
Else generate airfoil geometry at the AOA itself (in this way you need to generate mesh individually for every AOA)
