I compared them with standard compounds through co-TLC, confirmed their presence and I know they are present at almost the same RF. I tried lots of variations in the solvent systems, but to no avail. They are present like head-to-head in every solvent system and this behavior is posing problems in their separation through column chromatography.

Repeated recrystallization has also proven to be of no use because both of them produce crystals in methanolic solution and I get a dual mixture each time. I also tried prep-TLC, but no separation was possible, as they are very close in RF

Does anyone know how to isolate beta-sitosterol and stigmasterol as pure compounds on the same TLC plate?
